10 Steps of Composing an Expert Research Paper

19 Aug 2018

If you are a student, you probably know what a torn in your side a research paper can become. Do you have to write it again? The deadline is just by, isn’t it? Do you know that there are 10 simple steps that can help organize your work and be on time with writing? Devote two minutes of reading this article or hire a professional research writer.

Step 1. Choose a Topic

Choice of a topic should not take much time. There are some requirements you should follow. A topic must:

Not be diffused. Choose as an exact thesis as you can. Otherwise, you need to touch all aspects of a wide topic, and your research paper will turn into a research book

Be relevant and unique. A research paper is a paper that reflects actual experiments conducted by a researcher

Not be plagiarized and made relevant for the audience and used for science

Not be controversial and offensive

For example:

Bad topic: Students’ attitude to politics.

Better topic: Students’ interest to actual political happenings on the basis of 2016 election attendance statistics.

Step 2. Prepare Literature Quickly

Reading through all information resources takes a lot of time. Find abstracts, summaries, and almanacs with brief descriptions. Mind to cite them properly.

Step 3. Use Information Wisely

Do not be afraid to borrow something from other resources. Carefully check bibliography and reference lists. There you can find other literature that can be used for your research paper. Do not just copy a reference line to your paper but find a full article or book

Step 4. Create a Plan and ‘To Do’ List

Start working on a paper as soon as a topic is chosen. Always make notes and write down all ideas and tips. Make a detailed plan of what to write about.

Step 5. Follow The Structure

A research paper is a pretty standard academic work with a definite structure. Do not change it dramatically. A paper should contain at least these parts:

  • An introduction with an abstract, the methods page and a body of introduction, where you describe purposes and reasons for conducting an experiment
  • The body of a paper, where you describe all steps of the research and give a brief but sufficient theoretical background
  • Conclusions, where results of the research, their influence and utility are presented
  • An annotated bibliography that contains a brief description of every source used

Step 6. Make a Strong Introduction

This part is a front door of your paper, so it must persuade a reader to look through the following text. Mind its three essential parts: the research question, a hypothesis and a thesis statement (a statement needed to be proven by the research).

Step 7. Diversity in Literature

Never accept only one side of a problem. Try to reveal all possible points of view towards the thesis you have found.

Step 8. No Milk and Water!

The research paper does not stand irrelevant or non-specific information in its body.

Step 9. Analyze thoroughly

In part called ‘Discussion’, you need to analyze data from the experiment. Apply only approved methods and don’t grudge space for them – this section must be the biggest in the work

Step 10. Follow All Format Rules

At least a half of your future mark depends on following the given format. If it is not suggested by a tutor, use logic and chose it depending on your subject. On the Internet, you can find appropriate styles for academic works. Follow all regulations carefully and do not underestimate proper citing.
